About me

Prof. Dr. João Pedro Batista has been Professor of Therapy Science in the training-integrated Bachelor's degree program in Physiotherapy at the Leverkusen Campus of the SRH University of Health since May 2022.

After graduating with a bachelor's degree in physical therapy from Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Paraná - PUCPR, Brazil, in 2006, he went on to earn a master's degree in health engineering with a focus on bioengineering and biomechanics from the same university. 

This was followed by many years of teaching in the field of movement therapy and classical massage therapy at the Instituto Federal do Paraná - IFPR, Brazil. In this capacity, Prof. Dr. João Batista also served as a course coordinator.

In addition to his employment at IFPR, he obtained his PhD in 2016 from the Faculty of Sports Science, Universidade Estadual de Londrina - UEL, with a thesis on "Biomechanics of knee osteoarthritis: probabilistic approach to electromyographic activity of knee muscles". 

From 2017 to 2022, Prof. Dr. João Batista worked as head of the movement laboratory in the Department of Geriatric Medicine at the University Hospital Aachen. During this time, he worked and led several research projects on biomechanics and three-dimensional motion analysis of frail elderly. He is actively involved in research with publications in international journals and presentations of scientific papers at national and international congresses.
